Decoteau Irby is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago in the College's Urban Education Leadership Program, where he teaches and advises. 

Irby writes academic articles, books, and short stories.  His work is focused on Anti-racist learning, Organizational improvement, Participatory Research, and Evaluation. 

Based on Irby's research and experience, he believes that Stuck Improving is a useful guide for leaders who are focused on racial equity and school leadership.
